Formerly known as Riot, and Vector before that, this is an open-source chat and instant messaging service featuring end-to-end encryption for more secure messages. It also supports both voice and video calls between two users or groups.
Similar to Discord or Telegram, Element allows for private or public group messaging, with various collaboration tools available as needed. What makes it stand out is its use of the Matrix Protocol, which is basically an open communications standard that ensures cross-platform compatibility across multiple other service providers online.
